  • It’s going to be free to upgrade from Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, for a year from its launch date

The new version will be also very much about making those who were unhappy with Windows 8 happy again. The focus is very much about the keyboard and mouse, but those who have devices with touch capabilities haven’t been forgotten. It will include:

  • One Desktop – not split between the ‘old’ desktop and modern apps
  • A new web browser, called Spartan
  • Xbox app on the Desktop
  • Expanded start menu – looks more like Windows 7 than Windows 8
  • Cortana – voice controlled assistant with headset
  • Apps that run in a window
  • Snap function – will work with all apps; snap four apps on the same screen
  • Task View – see a thumbnail of all open apps
  • Multiple desktops
