There are three ways you can join pieces of text in Excel:

The & operator
Here’s an example, where I’ve made an email address by joining the first name, a dot, last name, and the “@example.com” part of the address. Some of the text is in the spreadsheet cells, and some of it is in the formula. When you put text in a formula, you put quotation marks around it, “like this”.

CONCAT(text to join, text to join…)
This is short for concatenate, which basically means to join things up. (Before Excel 2016, this was called CONCATENATE.)

TEXTJOIN(text to add between joined text, ignore empty?, text to join, text to join…)
This function is great for joining names because you can tell it to add a space between joined words, and to ignore empty cells. It works with a range too.
