Being able to remove unwanted objects in a photo is one of the great successes of image-editing apps. With AI, this has become even easier, with the app doing all of the work. Even better, this can be done right there on a smartphone or tablet, without the need for separate apps.
Clean Up on an iPhone/iPad
On an iPhone/iPad, the AI Clean Up feature in the Photos app can be used to remove unwanted objects. To do this:
1)  Tap on this icon to open the Photos app:Â
2) Access the photo with the object to be removed at full size, and tap on this button to enter Edit mode:
3)  Tap on the Clean Up button on the bottom toolbar:
4)Â Â Brush over the item to be removed with your finger. The selected item is removed:
The Clean Up process can be used numerous times, on separate areas of an image, to remove as many items as required.
Magic Eraser on an Android smartphone/tablet
On an Android smartphone/tablet, the Magic Eraser feature in the Google Photos app can be used to remove unwanted objects, using AI. To do this:
1)  Tap on this icon to open the Photos app:Â
2) Access the photo with the object to be removed at full size, and tap on this button to enter Edit mode:
3)  Swipe along the bottom toolbar, tap on the Actions button, and tap on the Magic Eraser button:
4)Â Brush over or circle the item to be removed. The selected item is removed:

Depending on the complexity of the item to be removed, and the power of your smartphone/tablet, it can take several seconds for the Magic Eraser to remove objects.
