Split View (Split Screen) enables two apps to be used side by side, independently of each other. For instance, you can look through a page on the web with Safari in one view, and then add notes in the Notes app in the other view. To use Split View for multitasking:

1)  Open the first app that you want to use.

2)  The Multitasking button at the top of the app can be used to access the multitasking options. Tap once on the button.

3)  The multitasking options are, from left to right: Full Screen, Split View, and Slide Over. Tap once on each option to apply it to the selected app.

To use Split View

1)  Open the first app that you want to use and tap once on the Multitasking button at the top of the window.

2)  Tap once on the Split View option.

3)  The app is minimized to the left-hand side of the screen and the Home screen is displayed.

4)  Tap once on an app on the Home screen or on the Dock to activate it as the other app in Split View.

5)  The two apps are displayed side by side. Initially, the apps in Split View take up 50% of the screen each and can be used independently of each other.

6)  Drag on the middle button to change the proportions of the two Split View panels

7)  Press and hold on the middle button and drag it away from the right-hand (or left-hand) edge of the screen to close one of the Split View apps.

To get back to Full Screen view (i.e. get out of Split View/Split Screen)

1)  Tap once on the Multitasking button at the top of one of the apps.

2)  Tap once on the Full Screen option.

3)  The apps are both displayed at full size.
